Hello, I'm Kayla Grant. I identify as a non-binary, genderqueer person living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I use they/them and she/her pronouns. Some of the things currently bringing light into my life are creative expression, cognitive science, anti-oppressive practices, and curiosity. I work as a tattoo artist and am also training to become a psychotherapist. Very recently I founded the Altar collective. Learn a bit more about me here and feel free to get in touch!
I have been expressing my Self through visual art since I was a small child. Although I tend to work in a variety of mediums, I am currently focused on embroidery and comic practices. Learn more about my philosophy and spirituality around my art practice here. View a gallery of my visual art here.
I have been a tattoo artist since 2008. For the majority of my career, I have worked privately under my own employment. As I continue to build my philosophy around my art practices, I'm seeing tattooing as a powerful tool of Self-actualization and transformation. I am in the process of finding a space to house the collective Altar where I will be tattooing out of in the future. Learn more about my spirituality and philosophy around my art practice here. View a gallery of my tattoos here.
I am a high-school dropout. In 2013 I completed the Academic Bridging Program at the University of Toronto and am currently enrolled there as an undergraduate student. I am completing my degree in cognitive science, Indigenous studies, and Buddhist psychology. I am also completing a post-graduate program in existential-integrated psychotherapy at the Living Institute. I do much of my own research and exploration involving all of these topics as well.
